Over 800 followers of radical movements in Kazakhstan were converted to traditional Islam in 2015, said Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan Serikbai kazhy Oraz.
“802 people who were active members of destructive religious movements gave up on their beliefs and have chosen to become traditional Muslims. We work individually with each of them and we know who follows destructive movements by their prayers,” said Serikbai kazhy Oraz at the meeting of the imams on December 21.
He added that the majority of former radicals are young men aged 30-40 years old.
