The first Islamic university of Spain is opening in San Sebastian in Basque Country at the initiative of the Islamic University of Minnesota in the US, led by Arab theologian and jurist Waleed Al-Maneese.
The new center is directed by a member of the Moroccan Islamic Justice and Spirituality movement, Rachid Boutabouch, defined by the Institute for Strategic Studies (Ieee) of Madrid as a 'staunch supporter of the recognition of Islamic law in Muslim countries'. Justice and Liberty is, according to Ieee 'an Islamic movement considered illegal, although it is tolerated' in Morocco, supporting the 'creation of a second caliphate', among others.
The Islamic university of San Sebastian, El Mundo reported, offers two courses, one dedicated to 'Islamic sciences and the Arabic language' and another to 'juridical and Arab studies'.
The courses in Arabic will begin on October 1 and are not recognized in Spain. (ANSAmed).
