Though the entire Qur`an is revealed from Allah and is all great and miraculous, Allah held more valuable some verses to others and made their recitation more meritorious than others. The last two verses of surah Al-Baqarah are among these meritorious verses which read: (The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers…….), Al-Baqarah, 285, to the end of the surah, and the Prophet of Allah said: (reading the last two verses from surah Al-Baqarah is at a night is sufficient). Scholars differed over the meaning of “sufficient” as follows:

-          they are sufficient to pray at night.

-           they are sufficient to read the Qur`an in general at such night.

-          They guard him against every evil

-          They guard him/her against Satan

-          They signify the sound creed

-          They compensate the bad deeds committed in such day, thus safety

I believe they encompass all the aforementioned views and more as they are very special verses, since marvelous narrations have been related signifying their virtue. In this regard, the Prophet (PBUH) said: (Allah has written a book two thousand years before He created the earth, from that book, He revealed two verses concluding Al-Baqarah chapter. If these two verses are recited at a house for three nights, Satan never approaches this house). Also, the Prophet said: (we, Muslims were preferred to other nations by virtue of three qualities: all the earth is a place for prayer for us, its dust is a purification for us, our rows are like those of angels, and I was given these verses who conclude Al-Baqarah chapter from a treasure beneath the throne that none before or after me shall be given like them). How it comes for any Muslim having been aware of the virtue of these two verses to neglect reciting them every night?! Brother, Keep in mind that reciting them do not take more than two minutes!
