Short Description
The love of oneself, and love for money are among the most primarily things Allah made the original disposition incline to them.
(I have only created the Jinn and men to serve Me)
Love is a sign to this worship
Allah says: (And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah . But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah )
Allah says: (Say, [O Muúammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.")
It is easy to claim you love Allah, hence you will be tested
Allah says: (do men think that they will be left alone on saying "we believe" and that they will not be tested?)
Allah created us in a special way that He put the love of things in our nature and deep in our heart. Then after He knows that we deeply love those things, He asked us to give these things in His cause just to proof our love for Him. Allah says: (The original disposition from Allah upon which He originated (Literally: constituted) mankind.)
The love of oneself, and love for money are among the most primarily things Allah made the original disposition incline to them.
Allah says: (Not equal are those believers remaining [at home] - other than the disabled - and the mujahideen, [who strive and fight] in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the mujahideen through their wealth and their lives over those who remain [behind], by degrees. And to both Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain [behind] with a great reward -)
Allah says: (The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah . And it is those who are the attainers [of success].)
The only verse where the soul came prior to wealth is (Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise…), At-Tawbah, 111. Allah confirms it in surat Al-Fajr where He says: (And you love wealth with immense love.)
So, Allah will test us over loving Him, the Prophet said: (each nation has a trial or test, and the test of my Ummah is the wealth)
The test of Banu Israel was women, but for Muslims, it is by wealth.
Charity is a means to purify your soul, so Allah says: (of their wealth take alms "charity" that so you might purify and sanctify them).
It is a matter of training and continuity
Till you prove to Allah that you love Him more than your wealth
The Prophet said: (charity is a proof)
Proof for faith and love for Allah
So if we understand this philosophy, philosophy of donation in Islam and that you are giving to purify yourself and to prove to Allah that you love Him more than your wealth.
If you understand that philosophy, you will move to another degree, from a state in which you force yourself to pay charity to satisfy Allah and to increase your good deeds to a state in which you love donation. You give because you love giving, and this is the degree of the righteousness.
Allah says: (By no means, you shall attain righteousness unless you give freely of that which you love)
Now, you need none to encourage you to give. On the contrary, you are encouraging others.
Now we can understand how the companions felt the sweetness of giving in charity that `Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, used to perfume the dinars which given in charity, on being asked about that, she replied: because these dinars fall in the hands of Allah before they fall in the hands of the poor. In this regard, Allah says: (did they know that Allah does accept repentance from His servants and receives their gift of charity)
Allah receives our donation before we put it in the box, so we should be shy to give Allah something trivial or something inappropriate.
We can understand why the poor companions did their best to spend any thing in the cause of Allah.
At the battle of Tabuk, the poor companions donated what they own like some rice or beans.
On the other hand, the hypocrites stated to throw ridicule on them and took them as a joke.
Then Allah himself protected them, where He says: (Those who criticize the contributors among the believers concerning [their] charities and [criticize] the ones who find nothing [to spend] except their effort, so they ridicule them - Allah will ridicule them, and they will have a painful punishment.)
If we understand that concept all of us will be eager to give.
From that point of view, every believer should donate freely and generously, just to purify himself and to feel the sweetness of giving.
If we talk about the school project, we will have no difference between those who are rich and those who are poor.
We will have no difference between those who will stay in this city for good and those who will leave this city for good.
We will have no difference between those who have children and those who have no children or even not married.
It is a matter of purification and a matter of prrof.
