Short Description
The prophetic attitude towards the Jewish disavowal
In the previous article, I have tackled the Jewish disavowal to Prophet Muhammad.
What was the reaction of Prophet Muhammad towards the obdurate Jewish attitude?!
Has Prophet Muhammad compelled the Jews to recognize him or to embrace his religion?
Though Prophet Muhammad himself is certain of his truthfulness and Jews themselves are, it never happened for him to compel them to embrace his religion or to believe in him, though the power was at his hand and his companions were at his beck and call.
Prophet Muhammad adopted this attitude due to the Qurnic verse: (There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion), Al-Baqarah, 256.
Jews and war on Islam
Were Jews contented of non-recognition to the prophet Muhammad?!
Absolutely not, Jews shoed hostility against the prophet Muhammad and leaded suspicion campaigns against Quran and Islam in full. They stated conspiring aiming at turning people away from Islam. To exemplify, Jews went warning people of Medina that Muhammad is not such anticipated prophet as their books inform them, though they were to bring good news concerning him. Mu`az ibn Jabal said to them: O Jewish people! Fear Allah and embrace Islam that you earlier were praying for victory against us (disbelievers) by Muhammad (PBUH). You, Jews, kept informing us that he, Prophet Muhammad, certainly will be sent by Allah and describing him to us!! By then, Sallam ibn Meshkam stated: he is sent with things we have no knowledge about and he is not the one we kept informing you of. Therefore, Allah, Almighty, sent down the Quranic verse: (And when there came to them a Book from Allah verifying that which they have, and aforetime they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieve, but when there came to them (Prophet) that which they did not recognize, they disbelieved in him; so Allah's curse is on the unbelievers), Al-Baqarah 89
Moreover, `Abdullah ibn Sayf, `Adi ibn Zyad, and Al-Harith ibn Zyad as leading Jewish figures adopted the same malicious attitude against the prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They said to each other: Let's believe in that which was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day and reject it at its end that perhaps they will abandon their religion!! Allah, Almihty, disclosed their state through Quraniuc verses which read: (And a faction of the People of the Scripture say [to each other], "Believe in that which was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day and reject it at its end that perhaps they will abandon their religion, And do not trust except those who follow your religion." Say, "Indeed, the [true] guidance is the guidance of Allah. [Do you fear] lest someone be given [knowledge] like you were given or that they would [thereby] argue with you before your Lord?" Say, "Indeed, [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah - He grants it to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Wise"),Al-`Emran, 72, 73
As well, Jews tried to fill with spite the hearts of Al-Ansar people against each other through the conspiracy conducted by Shas ibn Qays[3] to wage war between Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj, the incident transmitted by Ibn Hesham in his book on the authority of Ibn Ishaq[4]
Then Jews went beyond that, namely they atrociously declared insolence against Allah, Almighty, when they described Him (SWT) of poverty, while they described themselves of richness. In this connection, Allah, Almighty, says: (Allah has certainly heard the statement of those [Jews] who said, "Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich." We will record what they said and their killing of the prophets without right and will say, "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire), Al-`Emran, 181.
The whole story was related by ibn Ishaq and ibn Hesham in his book of Sirah[5] and other references[6] as well.
Rather, Jews, in the course of disavowal and non-recognition of the prophet Muhammad, denied the Prophethood of Solemn (PBUH), though they hold him very valuable as he was given both peophethood and domination. Thus, Jews claimed that he was a magician and not prophet to the extent that some of their monks stated: how odd was Muhammad to claim that Solemn, son of David, was a prophet, By Allah! Solemn was no thing but magician!
In this connection, Allah, Almighty, says: (It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic), Al-Baqarah, 102[7].
Jews were not content of all these atrocities, they preferred polytheists to Muslims
Though all these attitudes and conspiracies of Jews against Muslims; the prophet Muhammad maintained his covenants with them and never disavowed them or their identity as People pf the Book.
This attitude of the prophet Muhammad is not based on personal tendency, however; it is due to his creed and religion Islam which necessitates recognizing the other regardless of their disavowal to Muslims.
This is the pivotal point, difference, over the Muslims' attitude towards the other and vice versa.
Indeed, how wide gap is the difference between the two which is like the distance between the earth and sky!!

[3]- Shays ibn Qays, a Jewish man known of vehement defamation to Muslims and profound envy to them. He tried to sow dissension between Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj due to their harmony. He was the person concerned of the Qurani verse: (Say, "O People of the Scripture, why do you avert from the way of Allah those who believe, seeking to make it [seem] deviant, while you are witnesses [to the truth]? And Allah is not unaware of what you do"), Al-`Emran, 99.
