Short Description
`Ekrimah ibn Abi-Jahl acted very voracious in hostility to the Prophet Muhammad as demonstrated in the Biography of the Prophet. This attitude was the same of his father, the pharaoh of the Muslim nation. For `Ekrimah, he persisted on hostility to a degree made the prophet Muhammad justified his killing at the opening of Mecca as a war criminal at that time.
`Ikrimah was one of few numbers fought Khalid ibn Al-Walid in Al-Khandamah. After defeat, he fled from Mecca heading to Yemen where he intended to travel by sea.
The Prophet Muhammad's righteousness `Ikrimah ibn Abi-Jahl
Ikrimah has a long term in disbelief. He is wanted dead or alive that if the prophet caught him, he will certainly kill him.
Um-Hakim bint Al-Harith ibn Hesham (May Allah be pleased with her), the wife of `Ikrimah, wanted to save her husband that after she embraced Islam, she went to the prophet Muhammad seeking intercession to her husband. She addressed the prophet Muhammad; O Messenger of Allah! Ikrimah feared you so he fled to Yemen. I seek your declare him safe. The prophet replied to her: he is safe.
The prophet has not reminded her of his history in combating Islam or he is wanted for killing. The prophet has not said to her: you are recent in Islam, thus it is not to you to intercede to him.
The prophet has not stated conditions to him or her to declare him safe, however; simply declared `Ikrimah safe.
The faithful wife went out from the prophet's
presence heading to the shore of the Red Sea where her husband was seeking a ship to flee to Yemen. She said to him: O cousin! I have yet come from the most dutiful, righteous and kind one that the prophet Muhammad. Do not fool and go headless as I interceded to you to the prophet. `Ikrimah said: you interceded to me?! She replied: Yes, I did. At that time, `Krimah was very pessimist. He wanted to flee to Yemen whose people were Muslims and most people embracing Islam. Thus, `Ikrimah instantly decided to return with her to Mecca. Before entering Mecca, the prophet Muhammad addressed his companions: `Ikrimah ibn Abi-Jahl will come to you as Migrant Muslim so do not curse his father as cursing the dead hurts the feelings of his alive relatives and hurts not the deceased.
How noble manners were that of the prophet Muhammad?! Abu-Jahl was the pharaoh of the Muslims nation, though the prophet ordered his companions not to curse him to respect the feelings of `Ikrimah who is still non-Muslim to the moment.
`Krimah entered Mecca and from far the prophet saw him. How did the prophet act?!
Did the prophet recalled Abu-Jahl?! Did he recalled the battles `Ikrimah took part in against Muslims?!
Did the prophet recalled the few days before where `Ikrimah took part in fighting Muslims?!
Did the prophet considered the humble condition of `Krimah?!
The prophet has not done any thing occurs to politicians.
On contrary, once the prophet saw `Ikrimah, he proceeded to him with no robe with delightful features of the face though he is still non-Muslim, but this is the nature of the prophet Muhammad without affectation.
`Krimah sat before the prophet and said: O Messenger of Allah! This, namely his wife, told me that you declared me safe! The prophet immediately replied without going to any details or stipulations: she told the truth; you are safe.
`Krimah said: what is your propagation? O Muhammad!
The prophet replied: I call you to testify that there is no God but Allah and I am the Messenger of Allah, to perform the five daily prayers and give alms. The prophet continued numerating the ordinances of Islam to `Krimah until the prophet mentioned all the praiseworthy morals to him. At that moment, `Krimah said: O Muhammad! You call only to the right and the morals.
By the time, `Krimah felt that all things the prophet called to were the right and the words of revelation. Accordingly, `Krimah said: By Allah! You used to call to these morals amongst us while you were the most truthful and dutiful among us so I testify that there is no God but Allah and you are the Messenger of Allah. In a short time, `Krimah left the party of disbelievers and joined that of believers.
`Krimah asked the prophet: O Messenger of Allah! What is the best thing in Islam? The prophet said: to testify that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. `Krimah said: then what? The prophet replied: to state: I make Allah and the attendance witnesses that I am a Muslim, migrant and mujahid. `Krimah pronounced these words. The prophet knows that `Krimah is still new Muslim so he tries to capture his heart. Thus, the prophet said to him: no thing would I give to any body you ask me to be yours would be so. At that moment, `Krimah did not ask property, authority or emirate, however; he asked Allah's forgiveness. `Krima said: I ask you to seek Allah's forgiveness for me over hostilities I made against you, any trial to deter your propagation to Islam or any malicious gossip I pronounced from your back or at your face!
The prophet invoked Allah: O Allah! I seek Your forgiveness to `Krimah over any hostility against me or any trial deterring propagation to Islam. O Allah! You may forgive him for any malicious gossip he pronounced from your back or at your face!
`Krimah said: O Allah's Messenger! This is satisfactory to me. Any money I spent deterring propagation of Islam, I will double it in the cause of Allah. Any effort I exerted fighting to deter propagation of Islam, I will double it spreading Islam. `Krimah spent his life striving in the cause of Allah in apostasy wars or Great Syria battles until he died martyr in Yarmuk battle.
Let's examine how his lifestyle changes ultimately by the manner the prophet received him with and overlooking his past errors.
Truthful is the prophetic Hadith: (I swear by Allah that leading one to the right path is much better than having red-haired camels). Other narration states: (Being a means for God to lead a man weighs over everything on which rises and falls the Sun).
The prophetic attitude towards Abu-Sufyan and `Ikrimah was the same he adopted towards more others.
The prophetic attitude to Safwan ibn Umayyah was the marvelous throughout history.
