The point of the book
Orators, scholars and callers to Allah are always dedicated to certain trend on handling the month of Sha`ban. They always put programs to motivate Muslims to make use of Sha`ban through giving much of fasting, recitation of the glorious Quran and praying at night. This is indeed a very fruitful and good thing. However; Dr. Ragheb highlights another point, namely the "Mental Readiness". This means to wait for the month of Ramadan, count the remaining days and nights left to its arrival and be very afraid to pass away before Ramadan.
This emotional state is difficult to fulfill, however, the one achieving it is really who enjoys the month of Ramadan.
Dr. Ragheb is quoted saying: I found that the simplest way to achieve this emotional state is to feel faithfully that it is the last Ramadan in your life.
