Short Description
The way the metal goes more pure from its impurities whenever it is fused in the fire, also the Muslim group facing its enemy goes more pure from the impurities of hypocrisy whenever sedition and trials intensify. The process of purification is not limited to the demise of panic and weakness of certainty at the hypocrites' hearts, rather the distinction becomes more plain when the frightened hypocrites not only resort to seclusion, however they disgracefully cooperate with the foes, adopt their attitudes, and show sorrow for their losses, besides they act on their behalf and sincerely advise them.
Though the stands of those hypocrites are bitter, and the believers become anxious as a normal result for the disloyalty of the hypocrites; yet, always there is a hope that these obscures will vanish prior to the final confrontation. Even though the believers have lost these hypocrites in their numbers and potentials, yet, these numbers and potentials are originally futile, as these hypocrites are no more than hollow drums which mat draw attentions and hearing by its noisy sound, however, in fact it has a little advantage. In this regard, we find that Allah Almighty has described them as saying: (And when you see them, their forms please you,) Al-Munafiqun, 4. The apparent appearance may seem appealing, and may reveal potentiality and profit (and if they speak, you listen to their speech) Al-Munafiqun, 4, that they are tactful in their speech in a way might attract people to listen to them, and their tactfulness may delude people that they are of high rank in reason and wisdom, but in fact it is no more than distortion in their saying which always marks their speeches as Allah informed us as saying: (Then you would indeed recognize them by their marks, and indeed you would definitely know them by the distortion in their saying), Muhammad, 30.
For the essence, value, and momentousness are missing in them as if they are pieces of wood propped up which even ca not stand alone and they are filled with horror and cowardice. They think that every cry is against them, they fear, at every moment, to have their lied uncovered which in fact are hidden by a feeble hypocrisy.
Allah would never keep the unfaithful hearts of those hypocrites hiding under the pure Islam for their perils on the faithful Muslims' bond, such a bond not only would oppose the false, but it would defeat it on its own ground and raise the banner of the right.
Allah Almighty has warned the faithful Muslims to let the hypocrite hiding (Had they gone forth with you, they would not have increased you except in confusion, and they would have been active among you, seeking [to cause] you fitnah. And among you are avid listeners to them.), At-Tawbah, 47. It is a mercy of Allah to afflict the Muslims by some trials to distinguishing the good from the bad and this is a very beneficial for the true believers which they can't dispense with, Allah says (Allah would not leave the believers in that [state] you are in [presently] until He separates the evil from the good.), Al-`Emran, 179.
The late ordeal of Lebanon that I have viewed some of its shining aspects in my last article is a distinguishing for the faithful from the unfaithful. Definitely, it was uncovering as it is always the firmly established rule of Allah at times of ordeals. During the Lebanese ordeal, personalities have come out resembling some in the Prophet's biography, or others when the Quranic text handled the incidents of the Prophet's biography wonder dominated hearts and minds, but Allah willed to prove the truthfulness of His prohibitions to the believers.
The faithful believers have experienced the media figure, politicians, or inclined-to-rulers scholars through their speeches and writings rushing in marvelous way to beautify the atrocity, and vindicate the disloyalty. They are of unique skills in playing on words that they refer to the cowardice as wisdom; they name languor to defend the right discernment, and they refer to the disloyalty as cleverness. Accordingly, from their point of view, they hold Jihad impetuousness, defending the right terrorism, and restoring the occupied lands and the suffering prisoners recklessly risks.
By reason of the such hypocrites' fluency, the ingenious of the Muslims, and they are many, get deluded, and believe that they are wise and prudent, outstanding and intelligent, however they are so far from these noble qualities. Imam Ahamad narrated on the authority of `Umar ibn Al-Khattab that the Prophet Muhammad said: (No thing I fear to hurt my nation than a tactful hypocrite).
The true believers were surprised by the stand of this group that they refused Jihad and spending though the ordeals facing Lebanon and Palestine. No doubt that such group of hypocrites accepts to live in humiliation for everybody, yet they can't adopt the resolution of Jihad, or avenging for the home and religion. This may astonish the believers as how these hypocrites can stand with this humiliation. The answer is that the resolution of adopting Jihad is a noble resolution and only the noble can adopt it.
This is the constant attribute of the hypocrites towards the false, and they always haste to prove loyalty to the enemies and adopt their stands more than they themselves do. At the late incidents in Lebanon, we have seen the surprise of the leaders of the enemy and its media as they found support from parties supposed to stand up for Lebanon and Palestine as they belong to the same ethnicity and religion.
This was the same stand of `Abdullah ibn Ubay and the group of hypocrites at the time of the Prophet that we know that at the battle of Bani Qaynuqa` (2 AH) when the Prophet wanted to punish the Jews for their disloyalty, the top figure of the hypocrites emerged defending the Jews and asking the Prophet to forgive them in impolite way that he said: I fear the bad ends. He called the Jews "his advocates". Thus, Allah Almighty revealed in him and those who adopted his stand the following verse: (So you see those in whose hearts is disease hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us."), Al-Maedah, 52.
The same incidents is repeated two years later in the battle of Bani An-Nadir (4 AH) when the Jews tried to kill the Prophet (PBUH), so the Prophet besieged them and when they were on the brink of surrender, messages by `Abdullah ibn Ubay and other hypocrites have been sent to the besieged inciting them to withstand and they back them as the Quranic verse reads: (If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you.), Al-Hashr, 11.
It is the same incidents repeating, rather repetition of the incidents may contain repetition of the words as exact, however, it is indeed repeating. The warning of Allah against the evils of hypocrisy is the same for every nation carrying the banner of the right over history in order that the true believers must pursue hypocrisy inside their hearts and their rows in the same manner they pursue the visible false, rather more.
It is not accidental that Allah limits the enmity to the hypocrites in the Quranic verse which reads: (They are the enemy, so beware of them), Al-Munafiqun, 4, after He (SWT) reviewed their attributes which I have tackled earlier.
