All humans err, but not all of them show repentance to Allah Almighty. In this regard, At-Tirmidhi related on the authority of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him that the Prophet (pbuh) said: (All sons of Adam are wrong doers, and the best among them are the penitent).

Some of the penitents are better than others, and keener to erase totally the sin from their sheets by applying the sunnah of the Prophet upon committing a sin, namely repentance prayer. This is related by At-Tirmidhi on the authority of Abu-Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: I heard the Prophet of Allah saying: (Any Muslim commits a sin, and then he performs ablution and stands in prayer seeking Allah's forgiveness, then Allah would forgive him), then the Prophet read the following verse: (And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins), Al-Imran, 135
