Short Description
Man feels sadness and remorse after committing a sin; but this remorse does not return time back, and such sin already has been recorded in one’s record. This may cause one to despair, because he has no power to change the record, however, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, opened a door of hope to correction, namely to do goodness after committing sin, and this was the advice of the Prophet to Abu-Dhar, at this instance in particular, and to all Muslims generally where he (PBUH) said: (Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with good one, and behave well towards people."
Imam Ahmad narrated, ranked good, on the authority of `Uqbah ibn `Amir pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: " One who does evil deeds and afterwards keeps doing good deeds, is like a person wearing a tight armour which is choking him. When he does a good deed a ring is loosened, with the next good deed a second ring is loosened, thus with every good deed the rings are loosened one after the other so the armour eventually falls to the ground. (Musnad Ahmad)
Narrated Ibn Mas`ud: A man kissed a woman (unlawfully) and then went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and informed him. Allah revealed: And offer prayers perfectly At the two ends of the day And in some hours of the night (i.e. the five compulsory prayers). Verily! good deeds remove (annul) the evil deeds (small sins) (11.114). The man asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "Is it for me?" He said, "It is for all my followers." Sahih al-Bukhari 526
How great is such sunnah of Prophet Muhammad which removes bad deeds, lifts degrees in paradise, and turns the desperate disobedient to optimistic obedient!
