`Arafa Day is of the greatest days ever. At-tirmithi related, ranked hasan by Al-albani, on the authority of Abu-Hurairah said: the Prophet (PBUH) said: (Al-Yawmul-Maw’ud (the Promised Day) is the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Yawmul-Mashhud (the Attended Day) is the Day of Arafah, and Ash-Shahid (the witness) is Friday.)

Allah Almighty forgives ultimately for the believing servants as related by Muslim on the authority of 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) who reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: (There is no day when God sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of 'Arafa. He draws near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do these want?)

Allah Almighty by His grace made some of this forgiveness for muslims who could not afford pilgrimage, namely through fasting the day of Arafa as demonstrated in the narration of Musluim on the authority of Abu-Qatada that the Prophet (PBUH) said: (Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates for the sins of the year before and the year after.)

This is one day fasting removes away your sins for two years, the prudent Muslim should be keen to observe it fasting.
