Short Description
How good it is for Muslims to approach each other in cordiality and good relations; it is a great chance to achieve this during Eids, so it is preferable for a Muslim to meet as much numbers of Muslims as possible to enhance the degree of communication even by spreading As-Salam; thus it was Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to go to Eids prayers through certain road and be back from another one so that he meets as much as numbers of Muslims along the two roads. Imam Al-Bukhari narrated on the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he said: (The Prophet “pbuh” used to change road on Eids).
It might be the same reason why the Prophet used to not straddle his ride on the way to Eid prayers, namely to have a chance to spread Salam to Muslims.
At-Tirmidhi narrated, ranked Hasan by Al-Albani, on the authority of `Ali who said: ( It is a Sunnah to go to Eids prayer walking, and to eat anything before going).
Muslims should know the purpose of changing roads on Eids that is to spread Salam and congratulate them. It is not meant to just change roads and go silent without spreading Salam, however, it is a sunnah to spread Salam for whom you know and whom you may not know.
